Professionally, my work focuses on corporate, personal and creative portraiture.

Many business people know, especially those who have adopted the principles of Stephen Covey’s; “7 habits for highly successful people”, that sharpening the saw is an important part of our continuous  professional development. Without it we will ossify and fall behind. With it we open ourselves to new opportunity, possibilities and collaborations. The bonus is that we meet great people and discover many doors of possibility.

You probably have already embraced the value created by the process of connecting, communicating, collaborating and creating with others to produce work that would otherwise be impossible. Creating visual assets is clearly an important part of the value creation process for any business with an evolving communication strategy.

As a photographer, and business person, it is vital to be seen to walk the talk. This is why, from time-to-time, I will take time out to collaborate with others with the primary vision of producing work that would otherwise not happen.

During a very cold February afternoon in Shoreditch, London; Aditi, Brighid, Calvin (a fellow photographer not pictured here), Kilian, Stevie,  Susy and I joined together to produce a set of images that we all appreciate and remind us of an important day in our lives because we value each others contribution.

Taking time out of our busy business lives to collaborate with people who matter speaks volumes about those of us how want to continuously sharpen our own personal saw.

What do you want to create for your business? What message do you want to project? How do you imagine connecting, communicating, collaborating and creating with me?

I’ll am very interested to hear your plans to do that.

Eleanor Inglis – Headshot Photoshoot

Eleanor is a busy actress who has lives in Kingston upon Thames. She has been acting since she was eight years old and had roles on the Disney Channel from the age of 10. Eleanor’s has worked for more than eleven years on stage, screen and television. Recent roles include acting in Norma (English National Opera), Endeavour (ITV), The Hollow Crown (BBC) and many others. To discover more about Eleanor’s screen please see her entry on the Internet Movie DataBase (IMDB), click here to read more.

We connected via a creative group on-line, then discovered that we live a short distance from each other. Eleanor was keen to refresh her headshot portfolio so we were well matched for the task. Given our geographical proximity, I set-up my studio at home, where we created a range of looks for her. Here are just a few of them.

We found a lot of common ground during our photoshoot and we are both pleased with the results. My suspicion is that we will work together again.

Have you ever noticed that some people really love what they do? One of the joys of my life is that I meet people from different walks of life. Occasionally, I photograph them. Whenever I meet business, creative and other talented people you can really see something special in those who love what they are doing.

Photography is just one way in which we are able to honour those people of all ages, backgrounds and passions.

Here are some photographs of men I have met during my journey, each with their story to tell, captured in a special moment during a visit to their office, home or other places.

This is David and Sarah Cousens. They run a very creative business called Cool Surface Ltd

David and Sarah Cousens

David and I met at an event, called “Creative Meet-up”, organised and sponsored by Adobe. We instantly clicked and agreed that one day I would create David’s portrait. Months went by before we were able to find a day when would both be available. Happily the day for our portrait shoot arrived.  David introduced me to Sarah, his wife and Managing Director of their company. After a chat about how I approach photographing people (which has very little to do with the camera), Sarah accepted my invitation to join us for the photoshoot.

We travelled to a theatre where David is an active Trustee. This became our pop-up studio space where we set up my lights, cameras, reflectors and other equipment. Before I picked up a camera David, Sarah and I created a common understanding of my approach and how we could each actively contribute to the photoshoot.

Here you can see some of the results of our time together.

How might you see something like this working for you?
